It is awful quiet around the property. On occasion, I have envisioned a peaceful household devoid of chaos. My vision lasts a short time. It is only when that chaos is gone do I find myself wanting exactly that.
Jim headed off with his brother, Doug, to parts Northwest. Merlin went along for the ride. In fact, the morning of departure, Merlin feverishly pawed the leashes, knowing full well, on some unexplained level, that the brothers, affectionately called the MacStuff Brothers for their propensity to collect (more later), had planned that Merlin would go with them.
So, here I am with the more senior element of our clan. Quiet dogs who provide a peaceful existence, except when I arrive home and they demand feeding. I keep waiting for the ruckus that used to be supplied by Tucker and now is provided by Merlin, except the source of the ruckus traveled north.
Okay, I admit it. I am missing Merlin. I have the other part of the clan, the tomatoes, the plums and a lot of weeding and pruning, but it just isn’t the same without the troublemaker.
P.S. I want my husband to know I miss him too.
