Four years ago today Jim and I made it official in the Botanical Garden at Balboa Park. He picked Saint Patrick’s Day for our wedding so we would never forget the date. Very smart of him. He chose the location too, perfect if one wants to win a gardening girl’s heart. It was a small ceremony attended by close family and friends.
I want to thank Jim for the beauty he has brought my life. We are different in many ways but we are also alike. He allows me my obsessions with work, gardening and a host of other interests. I allow him his. It’s a good thing we like animals and that we don’t mind stepping over things of which we have plenty. There will never be enough room for us no matter how large the house and although this can stress us both, it is also part of the fun as we try to make it all fit. What delight I experience as Jim shares his latest finds, be it car, clock, painting or some other treasure. I will always be grateful for the family and friends he has brought my way — Michelle, Alex, Doug, Tiffany, Dan, Ron and a host of others.
Okay, I can do without the six or so cars parked in the driveway and I know the one car garage is extremely small and clearly insufficient for his needs. But I appreciate how Jim embraces each day and tackles each challenge with strength and good humor.
I will never regret the joining of hands and hearts back in 2006. Nothing is ever perfect. We are each our own individual and we also have our own view of the world, but the uniqueness of our expression makes life only more interesting.
I planted Irish clover last year on our anniversary and I watched this morning as it flourished in its little corner of the garden bed. As the old Irish blessing goes — May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you wherever you go.
Jim MacIndoe — Always know my love for you and how proud I am of who you are. I am quite convinced the luck of the Irish is on our side. Happy Anniversary, my husband and special friend.
